Understanding SRP 99, PhD 596/599
“SRP” is student research project. 99 is junior, 199 is senior. These are ways for students to get credit (2-4 units) for research volunteering. There is a quarterly contract.
596 is pre-candidacy PhD, 599 is post-candidacy PhD.
It seems to be the “TUT” courses that do not filter in the add new scheduling, and I assume the add assignment. I looked at another course and it was filtered. This would be an ok limitation or expected behavior for TUT courses. In any case:
Some/all TUT courses (at least SRP 99 and dissertation 596, etc are not scheduled; they have no time or room. Indeed, they were not intended to be a part of the TAT. The SRP 99’s never count for teaching credit. The doctoral mentoring is usually done on a yearly basis, and so is reflected in the teaching load; otherwise there would have to be 4 quarters entered foer each PhD student.
They are in the system because of the download from the registrar
FYI – I may have multiple students in my SRP’s. In the registratrar, I have one 99 course listed, with one or more students. Nancy Pike would have her own SRP 99 I assume, with only her students listed. Thus each faculty can have one “container” to put in multiple students.
