Who can attend what meetings, and who can vote?

Appointments and promotions are discussed at CAPA and EVF meetings.

What is discussed at which meeting?

CAPA fully discussed the candidates, considering all materials. They come to a consensus on a letter, and vote on the action. The outcome of the CAPA vote is included in the letter (majority, unanimous or tie; numbers are not included).

EVF meetings present the CAPA letter, and provide a forum for discussion. Both voting and non-voting faculty can participate in EVF meetings.

Who attends?

CAPA: only members of CAPA attend these meetings. CAPA can request additional members from the Subcommittee on Committees.

EVF meetings: the EVF and all non-voting senate members.

Abbreviations

CAPA - Committee on Appointments, Promotions and Appraisals

EVF - eligible voting faculty; usually tenure-level faculty (includes associate and above in-residence professors)
