The Pool
The pool is a group of applicants with completed applications. When the committee is ready to interview candidates, they declare the current applicants to be the pool.
The pool includes all current applicants, regardless of whether they are considered suitable or not
The committee agrees to move forward with the current applicants
There should be some people who the committee wants to interview
This should have the informal approval of the Dean and Associate Dean for DEI
Chair notifies the academic personnel HR staff person that they wish to submit the current applicants as a pool for approval.

Note: The approvers for the Adjunct position are Committee Chair, Equity Advisor, and Dean (all within SON). The approvers for the ladder faculty positions are Equity Advisor, Dean and the central EDI Officer
Upon approval, the committee can move to the next step (create short list)
The pool is only approved once, even if candidates apply after the approval date. Thus a shortlist can be updated without updating the pool.
