  1. Start by completing the curriculum map entry for your course.  Open the overall curriculum map for your program (attached below), find the row with your course number, and then follow the steps outlined by Dr. Altmiller.  For an example and helpful tips, you can find her PDF presentation in the folder called “Curriculum Mapping for Faculty in APRN and BS Program.” The info is also in Faculty Resources file https://uclahs.box.com/s/ferkpviyjqzrr7qz4lirtnlm1k8nwpqg   These maps will be due by Sept 15th to the Essentials Taskforce.

  2. If you want to change your course for this fall as an Early Adopter, map ‘what is’ for one of the courses you teach. There’s a Template Course Mapping Matrix for early adopters (attached) and also in the Faculty Resources file https://uclahs.box.com/s/ferkpviyjqzrr7qz4lirtnlm1k8nwpqg Get together with your Program Director and other faculty who teach related courses in the same program to compare what you’re planning to adjust for fall.

  3. The table (below) is one way to prep the Course Mapping Matrix to line up the current course with the AACN sub-competencies.  Adding those sub-competencies to the course is a proposed change you can discuss with colleagues, along with updates teaching methods and competency-based assessment techniques.  Once you have fine-tuned your plans, let the Program Director know so you can present at the next Program meeting, share your early adopter worksheet, and ask other faculty to endorse your revised skills/competencies.
